Journey to Accept Yourself

ACCEPT YOURSELF as you are...continually working on growing and bettering yourself.

As I was journaling this morning, it became apparent that I had a difficult time accepting who God created me to be.  I still am a work in progress on this, too.

Since my life-changing decision in 2007 to seek out how to share what's in my heart with others, I embarked on a journey of discovering, AND ACCEPTING, my gifts God created me with.  They are there for a purpose!

This journey of self-discovery and acceptance, and embracing it, has been tremendous.  It almost takes my breath away to look back and see the journey traveled.  I definitely have so much more growing to do, so much more to learn, but the journey is worth it.  The journey is what it's all about!

I encourage every woman to embrace who you are.  You were created the way you are for a reason.  Embark on that wonderful journey of self-discovery, & of how to use your gifts to serve others!

*Thankful for the journey.
*Thankful for 2nd chances to get it right!

It's never too late!

Who or What are You Rooted in?

When the storms of life blow through,
will your Roots hold its ground?
Or, will you be uprooted & tossed about like a rag doll?

Who, or What, do you turn to when life fails you?  When life is so stormy it's all you can do to hold on?
Do you depend on a person to be Rooted?
Do you turn to a remedy-something you can do to be Rooted?

What happens when that person isn't there?  Maybe they passed away.  Maybe they are out of the country.  Maybe they have issues of their own at the time and can't deal with your storm.

What about the next time you argue with your "Root"?  That's a little disappointing to have to fight with your foundation...someone you trust won't hurt you.  But, in reality, they do.
That person who is your Root, will let you down.  They will disappoint you time and time again, and leave you feeling vulnerable, alone, insecure and unsecured.

Okay, so what about a remedy to be Rooted in?  Do you exercise, or eat, or drug, or drink, have sex, retreat within yourself, become a social butterfly, become someone else?   There are so many ways we as humans handle our storms.
These remedies are only temporary.
They don't last. And, if they do, it could be leading to an addiction.

I know of someone who will NEVER disappoint.  He is ALWAYS there whenever you need him.  He is a constant source of security, joy, peace, confidence, strength, power.  When the storms of life blow through, his Roots are deeper than the ocean is wide and you will not waiver one bit!  You can call on him anytime day or night, and he's there!  His love is unconditional and he will never take it from you!

Who is this man you ask?  His name is JESUS!  He is the giver and sustainer of life!  He is the Root of my life for which I cling to daily.  Through ALL the storms of my life, and some have been pretty horrific, Jesus has sustained me through everything with a peace and joy that I can't explain!  I just know it's real!

If you're being tossed back and forth in life, and needing a Root, give Jesus a try.  I promise you.... you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Philippians 4:6..."And, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."  MEANING:  Jesus stands as a centurion at my heart and mind...protecting it!

Matthew 11:28... “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
MEANING:  Jesus will give you peace through your trials.  We can't escape the storms of life, but we can have peace through them.

What is your Root going to be?
Something or someone temporary and unpredictable?
Or, someone permanent and reliable?

Dead Battery

DEAD BATTERY?

What are you hooking up to for a RECHARGE?

Life isn't in any person, any thing, or any activity.
These things fade away & disappoint.
Look to the GIVER of life & remove yourself
from the merry-go-round of the continual "dead battery" syndrome.  Life doesn't have to be lived this way.

PRESS ON

"...Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."  ~Phil. 3:13-14

Such an impactful passage of scripture.  Every one of us at some point in life get hung up with our past.  Whether it be good or bad.  But, the Bible plainly tells us to "forget the past".   It tells us to "strain" toward our future.  In the original language, "straining" means to "reach for"; as if you're reaching for something.  Visualize yourself extending your arm & reaching out for something.  This is what the Bible is telling us to do!

"Forgetting" in the original root language means to be "unaware".  So, the Bible tells us to not get caught up in / live in, our past.  It tells us to move on with our lives, making a difference in this world as we live each day, focusing on our glorious future with Christ.  Our ultimate aspirations should not be what we achieve on earth, but heavenward.

Let us not get stagnated by our pasts.  Let's not reside there.  Our past is over.  The past was there for a reason.  What we do in our present is learn from our past, and use it to make a difference in our future.  God has given us permission, tells us, allows us to move on.  Let's do what he asks.

I'm pressing on.  Will you?  Join me in the journey.

Somebody Needs Me

SOMEBODY NEEDS ME jumped off the page at me as I was searching my library shelf for a devotional book, and stumbled upon a Leadership Course book.  I opened the cover page & on the inside I had written those 3 simple words..... Somebody Needs Me.

This has impacted my spirit right now.  We forget that our lives do impact others.  There are people looking for, & needing what our lives offer.  In our hustle & bustle of life, I think we forget the importance of what we all can offer one another.  Somebody needs me, just as I need others.  So, let us never diminish who we are; the gifts & talents we have, nor the divine purpose we were created for.

Somebody needs me.
Somebody needs you.

YOU .... RISE!

YOU....
....... YOU
..............YOU
.......................YOU

Ladies,  RISE!  It's up to YOU to CHOOSE to be in the present.  The past is gone.  Can't anything be done about changing it.  But, you CAN change where your mind, spirit, & being is in the present.

Embrace the past, reflect on the past, learn from the past, but..... LIVE where you are NOW!

Be in the PRESENT - totally & fully!

God has a plan

Life can become difficult.  Life can be confusing.  But, if we completely believe in the promises that God gives us in His Word, we can know that He has a plan for us.  God's will for our lives is perfect.  Never doubt His perfect will & His perfect timing.

For it is by faith we walk & live life, not by sight.  Trust in the Lord that He knows best for your life.  Trust Him completely with your life & every detail of every step.  It's much more assuring to know that the person who suspended the stars in the heavens has a perfect plan for your life; so much better than any plan we can even think of.

God has a plan.

Start Living!

It has been a busy past few days! I so enjoyed judging the Miss Plus Prairie View A&M University pageant, attending & supporting a charity fundraiser gala, modeling in a Bridal Expo fashion show, & having collaborating meetings on 2 projects!

All this to say that just because I'm plus size doesn't mean I have to stop living life. Just because I'm plus size doesn't mean I can't MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Yes, I certainly DO have input into society by the brain & heart I have. Yes, I do have beauty to my hips & confidence to my walk. Yes, I am worthy even as a full figured woman! And, YES.... I CAN make a difference as a full figured woman in fashion, in business, & any other avenue my MIND sets itself on.

STOP falling prey to society's idea of what beauty & worth is, ladies.

A few years ago I made the decision to seize life & start living; to love WHO I was WHERE I was. I encourage ALL women to do the same. You will be delightedly excited at the results!

Seek opportunities to MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Or...... just BLAZE TRAILS where there are none. :)

XOXO!

Maintaining our vessels

Does your oil need to be changed, or your tires balanced?

It's wise for us to visit the garage for mending & maintenance on our bodily vessels. Whether it's spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical; whatever it is... let's keep a check on the balance in our lives. Let's prevent the CHECK ENGINE light from coming on!

Keeping balanced leads to being more productive.... Physically AND Mentally!

God knows...

When things are not allowed to happen, it's for our own good.  I don't know what's in my tomorrow, but God does.  And, He has ONLY good & what's BEST for me.  When trials do assail, He promises me that ALL things work together for the good.  That slamming door was obviously a huge NO.  I must trust Him on it.

I must COMPLETELY rely on His guidance & not on MY wants.  "My" ways are not His ways.  "My" thoughts are not His thoughts.  But, I strive daily in growing to have the mind of Christ.  Growing pains, learning curves, attacks from the enemy can be frustrating.  But, if I totally rely on "He who lives within me is greater than he that is within the world", then I will have peace with whatever door closes..... or simply, one that doesn't open.  God knows... period.

FLIP FLOP to NIGERIA campaign

Sending Hope, Love, & Encouragement through
FLIP FLOPS.... to the poorest of poor villages, & to the orphanages in Nigeria. ♥

FLIP FLOP to NIGERIA was founded in 2012 by Spruce Dickerson, Miss Plus America Elite 2011. (www.facebook.com/MPA.ELITE.2011)

The Mission of this campaign is to reach the peoples of Nigeria in the poorest of poor villages, and the children in the orphanages, with Hope, Love & Encouragement.

The Vision which Ms. Dickerson had, & has, is that for $1.00 flip flops can be purchased in the Dollar Store. For only $1.00, hope, love & encouragement can be given to those who struggle to find it. What is $1.00 to most Americans--nothing. But, to those who have nothing at all, $1.00 is rich. Those receiving our flip flops will know they are loved! And, at the same time of providing hope, love & encouragement through a $1.00 pair of flip flops, it also provides protection for feet that do not have shoes; helping to prevent diseases & infections.

In addition to benefiting the recipient, FLIP FLOP to NIGERIA also benefits the giver. By giving a $1.00 pair of flip flops, it shows the benefactor how to love, how to give, the importance of VOLUNTEERISM & what VOLUNTEERISM looks & feels like; it teaches the value & meaning of money & just how far $1.00 will go. Plus, with spending just $1.00, ALL excuses to not participate in this campaign have been removed. The message for the giver is much deeper than just simply giving a pair of flip flops.

Also, this campaign has no age limit. Children can be a benefactor with their allowance money! Ms. Dickerson received a donation of 40 pairs of flip flops from a Princess Camp whose little girls earned flip flops daily for one week! The children were delighted to give!

The bi-lateral benefits are many.....
FLIP FLOP to NIGERIA touches EVERYONE. And, EVERYONE can participate!

What is your Hope?

My Hope in Christ eliminates all worry in my life.

This world is not my home. I have a GLORIOUS existence waiting for me! When my loved ones in Christ pass away, I KNOW I will see them again. Better yet, I will BE WITH THEM for all eternity!

Death is not a period, but a comma in life. We all will live an eternity somewhere--- but the decision is NOW as to where that place will be.

I'm so comforted to know my mansion is being prepared for me right now by the King of Kings, & I WILL BE WITH MY LOVED ONES & JESUS!

What do YOU have to look forward to?

CHANGE....

Change your perspective-change your attitude....
and your life will change!

It WORKED for ME! :) xoxo

Now, get going!
